Dr John Newton
Dr John Newton (Emeritus Fellow) has died at the age of 89. He first joined ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº in 1961, becoming a Fellow in English nine years later. A contributor to ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº Through the Twentieth Century wrote, ‘For me, the mood of ¾ÅÖÝÓ°Ôº in the late 70s is forever captured in the form of John Newton, English Fellow, soulfully reciting Lapis Lazuli by moonlight beneath the weeping fig-tree’.
